Beginnings are hard. Re-Beginnings are harderer!
Several years ago things were different and so was I. And yet here we are.
This iteration of how I express myself and ideas is delightfully fresh and clean.
In the coming weeks I’ll be posting articles on the meaning and machinations of sobriety and how I came to my views though Buddhist eyes.
We might even discuss the difficulty and many blessings of growing older in these times.
1. Getting Older
The folks who aged in the 20th Century had it easy!
Apart from the world wars and all the disasters, the 20th Century was a walk in the park. As a child of the sixties, I witnessed such dramatic changes in environment and society that no generation had before.
We now have more technology in our pocket device than old Neil Armstrong and his pals used to get to the moon and back. The planet is on Carbon steroids. And the rules of etiquette and manners that I learned are of no use today whatever.
In all of this change, we have also had great medical and scientific advancement that will likely see me through to 100 years old. The convenience boom has made everything easier, too.
2. Being a part of…
Let’s not get carried away with this website yet, but who doesn’t love a good community? At the moment, I’m in this club alone, so I’m glad you’re reading this. This platform now offers the chance to share the written word, audio and video. In all three modalities I will build a site full of information and concepts about the three main topics of Dharma, sobriety and ageing. I need your help.
3. Dharma, Sobriety and Ageing
… Not necessarily in that order. Once, and not that long ago, I was so drunk - for so long, that it was impossible to have any logical thoughts about spirituality and mortality.
I was mortally spirited, though.
Now, through the good fortune of having encountered Dharma and a group of drunks that helped me dry out, I can form sentences that generally lead to logical conclusions.
These technologies help me share those experiences and for that as well, I am eternally grateful.
4. Subscribe! Subscribe! Subscribe!
Please support this site with a subscribe BELOW and by sharing this link with others. I’m currently on Mastodon and YouTube as well.
I haven’t had much time today to write any more, but subscribers can expect a weekly dose of musing and movie making in their email inbox
5. Until then…
Recently I was reminded that if I can manage to have gratitude and kindness, all will be better. So, in parting, my kind friend, for Buddha’s sake (not the Japanese drink), BE GRATEFUL AND HELP SOMEONE.
Thank you for dropping bye, Bodhi.
